Searching for Evidence

You can use any of our databases or Google scholar to do research; however, some of our databases have PICO forms that can be filled out with the PICO elements. You can apply a PICO search in all databases but many find these PICO forms to be useful guides.

PubMed PICO Search
The PubMed PICO search lacks the user friendly design of a regular PubMed search.  The form and the results come in basic text. The results also come with the abstract, related results and a link to full text if the full text is freely available.

Trip Database
The Trip Database aggregates results from multiple sources with the goal of Turning Research Into Practice and focuses on evidence-based medicine.  The PICO search is a separate tab but part of the main website. Unlike PubMed, the results appear as they would during a basic search.

The Cochrane Library (BETA)
The Cochrane Library has a beta PICO search available in its Advanced Search area in Beta form.  You put a term into the search bar and then select which part of PICO it applies to.
