This guide provides short descriptions of each of the College of Chiropractic elective courses.

HAS-7308 Special Populations Technique Lab

Course Description:
The purpose of this hands-on lab is to offer students an opportunity to be instructed on different types of special populations, such as pediatrics, pregnancy, and geriatrics, in the lab setting.

HAS-7800 Developing A Targeted Audience Presentation

Course Description:
Students will prepare a presentation for the public on a public health topic of interest by sequentially developing a problem statement, performing an audience analysis, and developing message strategies. The final presentation will occur both in class and at a university-affiliated clinic.

Successful completion of Trimester 1 - 6 chiropractic curriculum

HAS-7801 DOT Alcohol & Drug Testing Certification

Course Description:
This module will meet and complete DOT requirements for training and demonstrating proficiency for becoming officially qualified and compliant for performing DOT drug tests and alcohol screenings. Participants will understand the rapidly growing over-all workplace testing industry and be able to respond to the demand for testing immediately upon completing this course and exam process.

HAS-7802 Seven Steps to Strong Posture: Implementing a Postural Awareness and Training Awareness Program

Course Description:
This course teaches concepts and skills necessary for a provider to communicate posture as an essential key to performance and active aging and to train the body toward stronger functional posture. Components of the course include clinical observations with digital photos, rehab exercises, and learning practical individualized exercises that promote stronger posture.   

Completing this course satisfies one step toward completion of the Certified Posture Exercise Profession (CPEP) program.

Successful completion of trimester 1 - 6 chiropractic curriculum.

HAS-7803 Obesity: Clinical EIP Approach

Course Description:
The primary objective of this course is for students to review various evidence-based approaches to weight loss. Students will analyze select obesity research articles for relevance and validity. Patient case studies will demonstrate a variety of successful weight loss strategies. Student assessment is by an oral exam with the instructor.

HAS-7804 Writing a Case Report

Course Description:
Students will prepare a case report suitable for publication; to include a review of the literature and a detailed report of the symptoms, signs, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of an individual patient.

HAS-7805 Corporate Health and Wellness

Course Description: 
This hybrid course is an introduction to the role of the chiropractor in occupational health.  The course provides an overview of occupational health and applied ergonomics. The 10 online hours from this course can be applied to the 30 hour onsite chiropractic care and corporate consulting certificate.  The focus of the 10 online hours is ergonomics, the classroom hours focus on corporate consulting and occupational health.
