Use this guide to quickly learn about the services and resources the Greenawalt Library provides, including upcoming training, how to get help with writing, and getting started.

Borrowing and Renewing

General Loan Information

  • 2 renewal limit in general (Exceptions: Reserves depend on demand and Inter-Library Loan materials may not be renewable)
  • No checkout limit for students but all materials must be returned before graduation.

Renewing materials

  • Patrons may renew their materials – if no one else is waiting to use them (reserves) or has them on hold (general collection) – by calling the Information Desk at 952-885-5419, visiting the library, or emailing library@nwhealth.edu.  
  • Reserve items may be renewed in person for an extra 2 hours if they are not in demand.

Fines:

  • Reserve materials: $2.00 an hour or portion of an hour overdue, up to $10.00 a day
  • Videos and DVDs: $1.00 per day overdue
  • Fines may be waived at the discretion of the Public Services Librarian. Email the library for more info.

Interlibrary Loan

Do you need an article or book that is not owned by Northwestern?  We offer a service called Interlibrary Loan, where we borrow the item from another library for no charge to you.  Here is the process:

BOOKS:
  1. Search the library catalog for your item.
  2. If not found, Request a book
ARTICLES:
  1. Search EBSCO Discovery by the title of the article.
  2. If the citation is found and there's no full-text option, use the Interlibrary Loan request link provided on the site.
  3. OR - If there are no results, Request an article.

You will be notified of arrival by University email or you may check the status of your request at the Information Desk.
